Privacy Policy

Aevi Ticino ("we", "our", "the Company") respects the privacy of its users and is committed to protecting the personal data collected through this website and its related services.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process and protect your personal information in accordance with the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Registration data: first name, surname, email address, password.
• Memorial data: information about the person remembered (name, dates, biography, photos, videos).
• Contact data: delivery address, phone number for orders.
• Usage data: access logs, IP address, browser type, pages visited.
• Memorial visit statistics: for each visit to a memorial page we record the day, where the visit came from (plaque, search engine, social media, another website), the device type and the country. We do not store the IP address or browser identifiers: an anonymous fingerprint, valid for one day only, prevents counting the same person twice. In aggregated form, this data is shown only to the family that manages the memorial.
• Email reminders: if you ask for “Remind me” on a memorial page, we keep your email address, your language and the chosen memorial. We write only after you confirm from the link in the email, and only the day before that memorial’s dates (anniversaries, All Saints’ Day, ceremonies added by the family). You can unsubscribe with one click from every email; unconfirmed requests are deleted after 7 days, and everything is deleted together with the memorial.
• Photos in messages: if you attach photos to a message, we keep them together with it. Before storing them we remove their metadata, such as the GPS position where the photo was taken and the phone model. They become visible only if the family approves the message; if it does not, or removes it later, the photos are deleted.

We use your data to:

• Provide and manage the digital memorial services
• Process orders and shipments
• Send communications relating to the service
• Improve our services
• Meet our legal obligations

The processing of your data is based on:

• The performance of the contract for the services requested
• Your explicit consent for certain processing
• Our legitimate interests in improving our services
• The applicable legal obligations

Personal data is kept for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or to meet legal obligations. Memorial data is kept for as long as the service is active.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with:

• Service providers (hosting, payments, shipping)
• Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC) for Google Analytics, only with your consent: browsing data from public pages may also be processed in the United States, where Google LLC participates in the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework
• OpenRouter and Anthropic (United States), only when you upload a photo of a death notice to fill in the name and dates: the photo is read by an AI model and Aevi does not keep it; we only accept providers that neither keep it nor use it to train models
• Legal authorities where required by law

Where the data is stored: Aevi's infrastructure (application server and database) is hosted with Contabo, in Germany; backup copies are encrypted and stay within the European Union. Germany is an EU member state and appears on the Federal Council's list of states with adequate data protection, so the transfer requires no additional contractual safeguards. Aevi Ticino remains the data controller and remains subject to the Swiss FADP.

You have the right to:

• Withdraw your consent at any time

We take appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss or destruction.

We only use the browser storage that is technically needed for the site to work (sign-in, cart, preferences). Google Analytics is loaded only if you accept it in the banner, and only on the pages that present Aevi: never on memorial pages and death notices, in search or in private areas. It is set up without Google Signals and without ad personalisation, and receives the page address without parameters. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of the page; if you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics cookies. Memorial visit statistics (section 2) use no cookies.

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy. Changes will be published on this page along with an update to the date of last amendment.
